George Rodriguez enters his ninth season as a Cal State L.A. assistant
coach and 13th season overall as a collegiate volleyball coach.

Rodriguez originally came to CSLA in 1990 as an assistant, spending six
seasons (1990-95) with the Golden Eagles before moving to Cal Poly
Pomona as an assistant. He returned to Cal State L.A. for the 2000
season.

In each of Rodriguez’s last five seasons at CSLA, the Golden Eagles
have earned NCAA Tournament berths, including a fourth-place
national finish in 1992 and a third-place finish in 2005.

Rodriguez’s coaching experience also includes tenures at Salesian, San
Gabriel Mission, Marlborough School, Mayfield, Flintridge Prep
Glendale Community College and East L.A. College. His Salesian teams
earned league titles in five of his six seasons. In 1987 and 1988 directed
the Flintridge Prep Boys’ Volleyball team to a back-to-back league
championship.

He was the director and owner of the Top Gun Volleyball
Club. George also was the Women’s Head Volleyball Coach at East Los
Angeles College. Before arriving there, the volleyball team’s had a
record of 6 wins and 143 losses in a 10-year span. In his 5th season
George won more than 55 matches. Many already consider him the
winningest coach in school history.

He is currently the boys’ and girls’ Varsity Head Coach at Campbell Hall. In the summer of 2005 George was the assistant volleyball coach in a movie called: All You’ve Got Produced by MTV. He also recruited the girls for that movie. As of November 3rd, 2008 George was named the new Head Coach at USC Women’s Volleyball Club team.

In 2010 Campbell Hall Girls’ team won CIF SS Championship and finishing 4th in the state. Coaching the Campbell Hall Boys Volleyball Team, he has won 3 League titles and in 2012 went to the State Finals. In 2022 George was named the Head Volleyball Coach at Los Angeles City College.
