ABout Lava North
LAVA North Volleyball Club fields more than a dozen travel teams for athletes from 4th-12th grades, with added programs like our popular Youth Lite and Juniors Non-Travel training programs. Our teams compete in Southern California regional competition, with top teams in the Gold Division. Several North teams have also captured gold, silver, or bronze medals in national tournament competition in recent years, highlighted by the Lava North 16 Adidas team’s Gold Medal run at the 2016 USA Volleyball Junior National Championships.
We strive to train our athletes to become the best volleyball players they can be -- dedicated, hard-working, passionate, disciplined -- as well as excellent teammates and accomplished young women.

The Los Angeles Volleyball Academy (LAVA) launched in the summer of 2011 and swiftly became one of the most recognizable and respected clubs in Southern California. LAVA North is one of the three original "compass point" affiliates and has been a part of LAVA since the organization's inception.
Based in Santa Clarita, LAVA North compiled a tremendous coaching staff full of men and women of great character, most of whom were homegrown right here in Santa Clarita, and including the head varsity girls coaches and multiple assistant coaches from many of the local high schools — Valencia, Hart, and Saugus, among others, not to mention Head Women's Coach at College of the Canyons. Our impressive collection of coaching talent strives to train our athletes to become the best volleyball players, and finest people, they can be. Our staff includes the head varsity girls coaches and multiple assistant coaches from four of the six local high schools — Valencia, Hart, Canyon, and Saugus, not to mention the staff of College of the Canyons — plus many others.

The flourishing program fields quality teams each and every year that rise to compete in the Gold Division of the SCVA Power League for their respective age groups. The North reputation is also growing on a national scale as several North teams have captured medals at national tournament events, highlighted by the Lava North 16 Adidas team’s Gold Medal run at the 2016 Junior National Championships, hosted by USA Volleyball. As mentioned above, LAVA North strives to train its athletes to become the best volleyball players they can be — but the program is also committed to training its players to become the best athletes they can be via the renowned LAVA North Strength Training Program.

LAVA North houses an impressive collection of Santa Clarita coaching and athletic talent and strives to train its athletes to become the best volleyball players they can be. The LAVA North coaching staff boasts the finest coaches in the Santa Clarita Valley, including the head varsity girls coaches and multiple assistant coaches from the majority of local high schools, not to mention the staff of College of the Canyons — plus many others.

National Travel Teams
We offer club volleyball travel teams for 6th-12th grade girls that compete both regionally in Southern California and nationally at competitive events across the country. Tryouts are in fall and the season traditionally runs Nov-June.

Regional Travel Teams
We offer club volleyball travel teams for 4th-12th grade girls that only compete regionally in Southern California. Tryouts are in fall and the season traditionally runs Nov-June, although for some teams (especially younger age group teams) the season can be shorter by several weeks or months.

Local Play Teams
We offer club teams for 3rd-10th grade girls that compete at a more localized level, not traveling very far from their home location and/or within the LAVA affiliate network itself. Tryouts are in fall and the season could begin as early as November and run as late as May; season length is on a team-by-team basis.

Summer Programs

JUNIORS NON-TRAVEL - FOR 6TH-8TH GRADERS
@ LAVA NORTH FOR 6TH-8TH GRADE GIRLS: The Juniors Program is primarily for 6th-8th graders, although 9th graders can participate with Director approval on a case-by-case basis depending on available space and the time of year. 6th graders are encouraged to participate in Juniors instead of the Lite during winter or spring sessions, and the Lite in summer or fall. The program usually runs on two courts, a Beginner/Intermediate Court for newer players and an Advanced Court for experienced juniors athletes.

YOUTH LITE - FOR 3RD-5TH GRADERS
The Lite Program is the official youth training and development program of LAVA North, designed to give young athletes a taste of volleyball in a encouraging environment that mixes quality skills training with lots of fun games to build a passion for this wonderful sport. The program is coached by professional, paid coaches; it is not volunteer-based and, as such, the training value and player growth is significant.

Boys Volleyball
My Son Wants to Play...
SMBC West Volleyball Club for Boys is the brother club of the LAVA West girls program. Many of our athletes have girls playing for LAVA West and boys playing for SMBC West. SMBC West fields several teams a year for boys grades 5th-12th, as well as offers an excellent youth program for 4th-8th grade boys not ready to play club volleyball just yet. LAVA NORTH FACILITIES
LAVA North operates out of its own exclusive 13,000 square foot facility in the Valencia area of Santa Clarita. The North Facility has two spacious courts of high-quality Teraflex flooring, the same material used by the NCAA for the D1 Women's Championships. Both of our courts are lined and can be used for volleyball or basketball. There is additional space for strength and performance training, which North players take full advantage of as an included element of the North program, in addition to additional space for spectator viewing for parents and families
