The oldest and longest running affiliate program of the Los Angeles Volleyball Academy (LAVA) is also its only boys travel club volleyball program: Santa Monica Beach Volleyball Club for Boys (SMBC Boys), established in 1982. SMBC Boys is one of the premier boys volleyball clubs in the country, not to mention one of the oldest and most successful, and for more than thirty years it has developed young male players into college-ready athletes. The SMBC Boys brand is a true juggernaut: the program has brought home nearly two dozen medals in Junior National Championship (JO’s) competition during its existence — including sixteen in the last ten years alone.

The coaching staff is highly respected and works off a comprehensive, successful training schedule designed by the principals of LAVA in the region. With such excellent training and excellent coaches, nearly 100 athletes have gone on to play college volleyball since 2006, to schools such as USC, Pepperdine, Irvine, UC San Diego, Pacific, Harvard, CSUN, Santa Barbara, UC Davis, BYU, Ohio State, Lewis, Hawaii, UC Santa Cruz, Pierce College, and Cal Berkeley, among many others.

The Los Angeles Volleyball Academy (LAVA) is known for its wide array of youth and junior club travel and non-travel programs; based primarily out of Studio City (in the San Fernando Valley), SMBC Boys is the oldest boys program with youth, limited travel, and full travel options of its own. The primary home of the SMBC Boys program is smbcboys.com.

Detailed current information on all programs — including tryouts/calendar info for travel programs, team rosters, committed athletes, graduated alumnae, pricing information, and online registration/payment options for all non-travel programs, among many other things — can be found at smbcboys.com.
